Cop misuses documents given for passport verification

Mangalore: A policeman allegedly misused the documents of a man from Uppinangady to obtain a SIM card from a mobile phone shop for his personal use, to which the resident of Uppinangady has lodged a complaint against a policeman on Saturday February 1.

Accordingly, the man identifed as Shabeer had submitted the document for passport verification when the policeman misused his passport related documents to obtain a SIM card.

Shabeer lodged a complaint with the IGP Western Range Pratap Reddy, after his earlier complaint at Uppinangady police station proved futile.

Reportedly he had applied for a passport at the passport office in Mangalore, the documents were then sent to Uppinangady police station for verification. The cops then demanded three photographs and a copy of ration card and the documents were also testified by two witnesses.

Shabeer said he later came to know that his photograph and his ration card copy were submitted at a mobile shop to get a SIM card by one Lakshmisha of Uppinangady police station, the IGP has assured to look into the matter and take prominent action.
