Congress will keep up its promise on property tax, says Poojari

Mangalore :  Senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojari who is the party candidate from DK Lok Sabha constituency  has said that the Congress party will keep up its promise made to the people of Mangalore not to hike the property tax for the next five year period.

Speaking to reporters at the party office on March 17, Monday, Poojari  assured that he will not allow the property tax to be hiked  and took exception to the act of the Deputy Commissioner who is also the MCC Administrative Officer who has already issued an order hiking the self-assessment property tax in the city limits by 15 per cent.

The Congress leaders aid the hike in property tax without taking the elected representatives into confidence was not acceptable and pointed out that the Mayor and all Congress corporators have already submitted an appeal to the DC  opposing the order to hike the property tax.
Poojari further said the mayor and all Congress corporators will quit enmasse if the decision was not revoked.

He further took a dig at the BJP and said the Congress was not like the BJP which failed to keep up its promise  on the issue.

Poojari was also highly critical of former Deputy CM KS Eshwarappa for his comments and  chose to describe the BJP leader to a Yakshagana  artiste who changes role every day.

Several Congress leaders including Kallige Taranath Shetty, Harikrishna Bantwal, Ibrahim Kodijal,  Mayor Mahabala Maarla, Deputy Mayor Kavitha Marla, former mayor Shashidhar Hegde were present at the press meet.
