
Mangaluru: Former minister and Congress in-charge for Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency B Ramanath Rai released election manifesto for Dakshina Kannada district, on Sunday, April 7.
A total of 30 promises have been made in the election manifesto, including desalination of seawater and providing drinking water round the clock, withdrawing the decision of privatising Manglauru International Airport, demerging Vijaya Bank with Bank of Baroda, flyover construction at Nanthoor circle, construction of government medical college in Mangaluru among others.
After releasing the manifesto, Ramanath Rai informed that the Congress would take maximum priority for fulfilling all the promises made in election manifesto. “ People should support our coalition candidate Mithun Rai in the election and allow him to bring developmental works for Dakshina Kannada district”, he said.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) vice president Prof Radhakrishna alleged that Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are most hypocritical leaders in the leaders. “Modi followed dictatorship policy throughout his regime. He denies to conduct even a single press conference as he does not like to answer others. Both Modi and Amit Shah provoke people ”, he said.
Merging decision can be reversible
When responding to a query on whether the demerging of Vijaya Bank is practically possible, Prof Radhakrishna informed that fiscal policy of the government is always a continuous process and the merging decision can be revoked. As Vijaya Bank was a profit-making Bank, merger is not acceptable. Hence, the decision can be taken to demerge it”, he said.
District Congress president and MLC Hareesh Kumar, former MLA’s J R Lobo, Shakunthala Shetty, Abhayachandra Jain and other leaders A C Vinay Raj, Mehraz Khan, Haneef, Sadashiv Ullal among others were present.
