Mangalore : “The Congress Party is not responsible for Yettinahole Project. Instead it was a project which was given a go ahead during the chief ministership of DV Sadananda Gowda,” said UT Khader, State Health and Family Welfare Minister.

Addressing press persons at the District Congress office on March 7, Friday, he said   leaders like former MLA Vijaykumar Shetty and others had forgotten to fight against the project when it was approved by the Sadananda Gowda government. “Why are these leaders fighting against the project now?” he questioned.

“Union Minister  Veerappa Moily has said the project is being implemented to provide drinking water to his constituency Chikkaballapura and is backing the project to  win the trust of the people of his constituency. He has done  this for the welfare of his electorate. It is proper on his part to support the project,” Khader defended Moily.

Continuing, he said the project would not have been implemented now, had the people of the district and its MP opposed the project when it was first initiated. He also called upon the people of the district to sink all differences to fight against any project that would adversely affect the district.

He clarified that he has not made conflicting statements on Yettinahole anywhere. He also showed clippings of his  interaction with farmers and media in Kolar. However, Khader failed to give a clear cut reply when asked about his stance on the project.

Congress leaders Eshwar Ullal, Krishna Shetty, Santosh Shetty and others were present.
