Mangalore : Pramod Kumar from Mumbai and Praneel Nair from Kerala who have arrived as Congress Observers for the Party Primaries to be held in Mangalore on March 9, have informed that the process of registration of voters for the Primaries will be held from February 23 to 25.


Addressing media persons in the city on February 22, Saturday, they said the Primaries will be held at the District Congress Office as per the directive of Party Vice President Rahul Gandhi. They also informed that former union minister Janardhan Poojari, Harsha Moily, PV Mohan and Kanachur Monu have been identified as candidates.
The two also informed that the 16 member team of observers from the high command will visit all block offices in the eight assembly constituencies in the district and interact with party leaders.
The voters will be chosen on the basis of the criteria fixed by the high command and added that the draft voters list will be ready on February 26 and the revision of list will be held on February 27.
They also informed that those interested in contesting will have to place Rs 10,000 as surety and added if elected they will have to contest the elections.
The two also clarified that Primaries are being held to avoid any confusion in selection of candidates.
