Congress holds BJP responsible for financial turmoil in India

 Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada District Congress has held BJP chief Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi responsible for the financial turmoil in the country, which has left the entire banking Industry with huge NPAs.

Terming that the Union government has failed to bring in economic development in the country, District Congress Publicity Committee Chairman Dhanajay Adpangaya said that Nirav Modi’s fraud to Punjab National Bank (PNB) amounts to Rs 12,636 crore, Rotamic Pen has benefited Rs 3695 crore from the Bank of Baroda, the Totem Info has gained Rs 1394 crore, the Kanishka Gold has availed Rs 824 crore, the RP Info System has availed Rs 515 crore, and Dwarak Das Shet has received Rs 390 crore from banks like Bank of Baroda,Punjab National Bank , ICIC, through the means of divergence of rules and regulations.

“A total of 17,504 cases of NPAs have been reported in the Public Sector banks from 2015 to 2017. The amount involved in NPAs is about Rs 66,66 crore and 2,084 bank officers are suspected to have been involved in this,” Dhanjay revealed.

He also alleged that in 2016-17, the BJP government has written off Rs 57,000 crore NPAs, continued to write off Rs 87,683 crore in 2017-18. In 2016-17, the banks have recovered Rs 5,000 crore and Rs 8,680 crore in 2017-18.

He further said that the upcoming Karnataka polls is Siddaramaiah versus Amit Shah-Modi and not between Siddaramaiah and Yeddyurappa
