Mangalore : “Despite of having internal election, the party has been united in supporting the  candidature of Janardhan Poojary,” said Union Minister  Oscar Fernandes.

Addressing a party workers’ convention at Town Hall on March 24, Monday, he said “Janardhan Poojary is absolutely the right  candidate of Congress as he poses integrity. He is a leader who has been with Congress since the times of Indira Gandhi and had fully supported her leadership,”

“The Congress was immensely successful in the Assembly election and is confident of winning at least 24 out of 28 seats in the  Parliamentary elections,” Oscar exuded confidence.

Further, quoting Mahatma Gandhi, Oscar said we need the Constitution and freedom in order to free every human from economical burden and deliver social justice.

Earlier in the morning Union Minister Oscar Fernandes inaugurated the Congress election campaign office.

In his address, District-in-Charge Minister Ramanatha Rai said, “During the internal polls 90% of the members from the party where in  favour of Janardhan Poojary’s candidature as he has been elected 4 times earlier and while being the member of Lok Sabha, he had addressed to every issue of the district.”

“We need to understand what Nalin Kateel has done during the past five years. The people of the district are the right ones to decide. Even during the LS Budget Nalin Kateel as an MP was seen inaugurating a retail store, what kind of responsiveness is this?”, he questioned.

Referring to  Modi’s “Chai Pe Charcha”, he questioned if they would now get Modi Biscuits, Modi Chips and Modi Chocolates as well. They( BJP leaders) are just publicizing things; there are so many corrupt people in the Bharathiya Janatha Party, he said hinting at leaders Yeddyurappa and Eshwarappa.

During the convention many JD (S), BJP as well as KJP members joined the Congress party. Prominent leaders and all college union state president  Dinaker Shetty also joined Congress.

Vinay Kumar Sorake, Udupi District Minister  and Congress candidate Janardhana Poojary  also spoke on the occasion. Ibrahim Kodijal delivered the welcome speech.

B A Moidin Bava,  JR Lobo, Shakuntala Shetty, MLAs,  Vijaykumar Shetty, former MLA, Kallige Tharanath Shetty, Ivan D’Souza and many other Congress leaders were present during the convention.
