Mangaluru: Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council K S Eshwarappa said that the State government is not showing any interest to provide at least drinking water to the public. It shows the utter failure of the government.

“Rural Development and Panchayat Raj minister H K Patil promised that he would be resigning from his post if 7000 drinking water units were not launched by March 2016. But the government failed to reach their aim. We don’t want HK Patil’s resignation, instead we want drinking water,” he said.
He further said that last year the state government decided to launch 303 drinking water units. Only 70 units are working now. The remaining 233 units are governed by some private agency and those units didn’t start functioning till date. Moreover a payment of Rs 2500 crore is still pending for the contractors.
“None of the ministers visited drought hit areas. The cattle are dying without food and water. People have begun to migrate. During the BJP government’s tenure, we granted Rs 1540 crore for loss of crops. But the Congress government didn’t even grant a single penny for the same,” he added.
He continued saying that the district in-charge minister should call up a meeting and try to release fund from the government treasure.
“12 teams of state BJP unit are visiting the drought hit areas. After State BJP President, B S Yeddyurappa assumes duty, we will decide about the further action,” he said.
Commenting on Anwar Manippady’s report on Wakf property, he said that the government is trying to save top Congress leaders from this allegation. None of the Congress leaders are saying that the allegation made against them is false. It clearly shows that the allegation is true.
MLA Sunil Kumar, MLC Kota Shrinivasa Poojary, DK BJP president Pratap Simha Nayak, Sanjeev Matandoor and others were present.
