Mangalore : Congress workers and leaders in Mangalore were in a jubilant mood on May 10, Friday when the CLP meeting of the party elected senior leader Siddaramaiah as the next chief minister of Karnataka. There were celebrations in the Congress camp led by former mayor Ashraf.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashraf said the BJP has been routed in the state, due to the maladministration and rampant corruption. He promised that the Congress will provide good governance and live upto the expectations of the people.
Another senior leader Kallige Taranath Shetty who also spoke, said moral policing will be dealt with stern hands and said the Congress government will also lay due emphasis to development of infrastructure.
Former mayor and corporator Shashidhar Hegde, corporators Naveen D’Souza, Praveenchandra Alva, Interim District Congress President Ibrahim Kodijal and others were present.
