Newskarnataka – Udupi

Udupi: “The budget just extends the projects formed by the BJP government”, said Tingale Vikramarjuna Hegde addressing the media personnel during a press meet in the city on Saturday February 15.

He further said that the state budget was totally disheartening. The Coastal Development Authority was set up to understand the problems and prepare a detailed project report and accordingly recommend the government, he added.

However the government has ignored the existence of the body and plans to involve the MLAs and MP in Coastal Development Authority. He alleged that the authority needs experts and not the politicians.

The press meet was held to convey Narendra Modi’s visit to Mangalore on February 18 during which Tingale Vikramarjuna Hegde claimed the above.

Informing about Modi’s visit Hegde added that about 40000 people are expected to take part from around the district. For transportation 530 buses and 400 vans have been booked.

Speaking about the Varahi Project:

Tingale Vikramarjuna Hegde said, “Sorakke should stop boosting about Varahi Project, his interpretations about using Varahi water project every alternate day is an unrealistic thing. The project needs a scientific approach to lift water to Udupi.

“The project is still lagging behind and is in the construction stag because of the land acquisition process. The project at least needs additional time to turn out to be a reality”, he added.

Hegde also informed that Haladi Shrinivas Shetty will soon join BJP or support BJP in the upcoming election.

B.S. Yeddyurappa, former Chief Minister, had also visited the house of Shetty at Halady village during his visit to Byndoor a couple of days ago. But Shetty was not available at his house as he had gone to attend the Assembly session, he updated.
