Communal clash erupts after ‘Virat Hindu Sangam’

Mangaluru: Tension prevailed in several pockets of the district, particularly in Uppinangady after miscreants pelted stones at the vehicles, which injured two persons.

The communal tension took place, after ‘Virat Hindu Convention’ concluded  in Puttur, which was addressed by Praveen Togadia, Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and other right wing activists. The speeches were provocative, it’s said.

It is alleged that stones were pelted from hillocks on right wing activists returning from ‘Virat Hindu Hrudaya Sangama’ programme that was held in Puttur. The angry activists is said to be allegedly retaliated and pelted stones at mosques. However, the exact truth is not confirmed.

The clashes resulted in injuries to several persons and damage of vehicles as the mob went on rampage around Karaya. When the situation went out of control, the police who arrived at the spot had difficulty in controlling the clashes. Rapid action force was pressed into action and police managed to bring the situation under control.
