In view of shortage of living donors in our country, there is a growing need to encourage deceased organ donation.Variousissues regarding theconduct of cadaveric transplant werediscussed. The Zonal Coordination Committeefor transplantation,Karnataka(ZCCK) is located in Bengaluru.

Cadaveric transplantation is predominantly conducted in this area and organs procured from deceased donors would have to be flown out there.

Mangaluru is a medical hub with many institutions conducting living related transplantation, although cadaveric transplantation has not caught on,but with a co-ordinatedeffortand establishment of a region wise zonal co-ordination committee, retrieval of organs could be done and they could be shared between these centers locally.Dr. AltafKhan, Professor of Urology proposed the vote of thanks.
