Mangaluru: CM Siddaramaiah laid foundation stone for ‘Konkani Museum’ today at ‘Maand Sobhan’ in Shaktinagar.
Speaking on the occasion the CM said that Rs 2.5 crore has been sanctioned for the museum while additional funds will be released once the work begins.
“The government has sanctioned Rs 2 cr for the study and research on Konkani language. another Rs 2.5 cr has been allocated for translation of Kittle’s books into Kannada,” he said adding that Konkani has a history of more than 450 years.
“The government will give all sort of support for the development of Konkani,” he said adding that till Konkani has been included as a language in the SSLC state syllabus and decision on including the language in PU syllabus will be taken shortly.
Health Minister UT Khader, MLC Ivan Desouza, Puttur MLA Shakunthla Shetty and others were present.
