Mangalore : A few persons were injured and vehicles damaged in a clash that broke out between two groups of youth during a cricket match at Premnagar ground at Kulai on May 18, Sunday.



The clash broke out over a trivial reason when a ball hit by a batsman reached the boundary and the fielding team argued that it had not touched the boundary line. There were heated arguments which eventually led to a clash.
When some outsiders too joined in, the incident took a communal colour and two of the injured namely Somu and Prajwal were admitted to Padmavathi Hospital, Others were shifted to another hospital in Mangalore.
Two bikes, an autorickshaw and Maruti Omni parked in the area also bore the brunt of the angry youth and were damaged.
Two cases have been registered in Panambur and Suratkal police stations. Security has been stepped up in the area following the incident.
Mangalore Police Commissioner R Hithendra too visited the spot.
