Bantwal: A fight erupted between the Congressmen and the local Sangh Parivar leaders after the zilla panchayat member Chandraprakash Shetty allegedly made an offensive statement on Dr Prabhakar Bhat at Kalladka on Saturday March 8.

Reportedly in a convention organized by Congress leaders, Chandraprakash Shetty condemned RSS leader Dr Prabhakar Bhat and used abusive language in his speech.

Poignant over the issue, the local Sangh Parivar leaders arrived at the spot and contradicted the Congressmen, soon the situation worsened as the member got into an argument. The angered members started pelting stones at each other.

Police resorted to lathi charge as well as tear gas to control the mob. Later higher police officials visited the spot and brought the situation under control.
