Mangalore : Tension prevails at Kulai  following a clash between two groups over a betting issue during a cricket tournament.

If a group had barged into a house near the Kalikamba Temple at Preethinagara in Kulai on January 13, Monday night and assaulted the occupants, in retaliation another group waylaid a bike rider and fled the scene after assaulting him.

In the meantime, there are reports that a group has even stoned a Bhajana Mandir in the area.

A complaint lodged with the police said  a group of around 10 to 15 persons including  Riyaz, Afiz and  Tausif  barged into the residence of Anil at Preethinagar and assaulted his family members.

Panambur police have registered a case. Meanwhile, security in the area has been stepped up to avert any further untoward incidents.
