City gears up to welcome Vivekananda Ratha Yathra

Mangalore:A rally and public function will be held in Mangalore on November 5, Tuesday when the Vivekananda Ratha  Yathra arrives in the city.

Speaking to reporters here, Swami Jithakamananda , Honorary President of Swami Vivekananda Ratha Yathra Reception Committee, said the Ratha Yathra organised to  commemorate the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Swami Vivekananda will be flagged off in Mangalore  at 8.30 am. There will be a student rally later on. The  Ratha Yathra will then  reach Ramakrishna Mutt premises after passing through   Mangaladevi, PVS Circle, Jyothi Circle, Kankanady and Marnamikatte.

A public procession will commence at 4.30 in the evening at Nehru Maidan and the procession will culminate at Ramakrishna Mutt, Pandeshwar.

Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo who was also present, informed that from Mangalore the Yatra will proceed to Tokkottu, Vittal, Konaje, Kalladka, Puttur and Sullia.

Ratha Yathra Reception Committee President PV Mohan, Convenor Rohan Monteiro, Co-Convenor Mohammad Badruddin were also present at the press meet.
