CITU rejoices passing of street Vendors Protection Act 2012

Mangalore:Various trade union leaders and street vendors have rejoiced the passing of the Street Vendors(Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending)Act 2012 in the Lok Sabha. The  leaders and vendors   gathered in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on September 12, Thursday under the aegis of the DK district unit of the CITU to celebrate the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Vasanth Achari, District General Secretary of CITU said  the passing of the Act was a victory for the years of struggle for the cause of street  vendors.

On this occasion, he did not  forget to add that the Mangalore City Corporation had time and again committed atrocities on the street  vendors who faced a number of problems. Expressing his happiness over the passing of the Act which protected the interests of the street vendors, he also urged for drinking water and bank loan facilities to the street  vendors.

Sunil Kumar Bajal,  Santosh Kumar, Mustafa, Imtiyaz and other trade union leaders and street vendors participated in the programme.
