Mangalore: The CITU held a protest against the Panambur Railway Goodshed and Godown Workers Union(PRGGWU) and its President Sureshchandra Shetty with a demand   to provide equal job opportunities for the local laborers.

The agitators held a demonstration and shouted slogans against the PRGGWU, in front of the DC office on Monday February 10.  Laboures from various districts who are working in the godown in Panambur since 30 years  are members of this Union.

However the local  labourers do not get work throughout the year as well as they do not have fixed earnings. They work on temporary basis and are given job only when there is import of fertilizer. The workers are now demanding a regular job.
