Mangalore :Stray dogs mauled a two year old child  near theabattoir run by Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) in Kudroli ward on Thursday.

Mohammed Imad (in pic), son ofImtiyaz and Badrunnisa Banu was attacked by the dogs when he was playing near the gate of his house near Mohiuddeen JumaMasjid atMohiuddeenNagar.

Imad was rushed to a hospital, but was later shifted to KMC, Attavar, for further treatment. He is out of danger. Mayor Mahabala Marla visited Imad at the hospital.

The MCC will fund a part of Imad’s treatment costs from funds meant for backward classes and minorities. Following the attack, the MCC has decided to revisit its animal birth control programme forfor street dogs.
