Mangaluru: A total of seven students from Dakshina Kannada district have secured nine ranks in this year’s Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) 2019 and have fared among the top 10 rank holders.
Among the seven students, six students are from the Expert Pre University College alone. R Chinmay has secured second rank in Engineering and third rank in Pharmacy. Another student Samarth Mayya has secured fifth rank in Engineering; Bhuvan V B, second rank in B Sc (Engineering) and sixth rank in Naturopathy and Yogic Science; Ashay Jain, seventh rank in Naturopathy and Yogic Science and Suresh Gowda J has secured seventh rank in B Sc (Agriculture). Yash Bannur has secured ninth rank in B Sc (Agriculture).

R Chinmay, who has secured ranks in both Engineering and Pharmacy, is a son of Ravishankar, who is working as an Assistant General Manager in Agriculture Department in Ballari. His mother Sudha is a housewife. Chinmay expressed that the constant support of his parents and teachers in Expert College helped him to achieve the feat. Sharing his pleasure with newskarnataka.com, Chinmay informed that though he had expected a rank, he never thought that his name would fare in the list of top 10. When asked about his goal in life, he said that he preferred engineering although he has secured a rank in pharmacy also. “I had a dream of becoming a scientist right from my childhood and I will strive hard to realise it”, he informed.
Samarth Mayya’s father Sathish is a businessman in Mannagudda and mother Shriradha a housewife. He said that he was just hoping to be in the list of top 20 rank holders. “When I came to know that I secured fifth rank in Engineering, I was really excited”, he quipped.
Bhuvan, who secured second rank in B Sc (Agriculture) and sixth rank in Naturopathy and Yogic Science shared that he used to study for about 14 hours a day, which fetched him to the rank. Bhuvan’s father Dr. B M Veere Gowda and mother Dr. Leena Gowda have been working as professors in a veterinary college in Bengaluru.
Expert Educational and Charitable Foundation Chairman Prof. Narendra L Nayak and Vice Chairman Dr. Ushaprabha L Nayak congratulated all the rank holders and lauded their hard work to fetch good results to the college.
The CET was conducted on April 29 and 30, this year. This result is valid for only one year to get admissions in colleges across the state.
