Mangaluru: CCTV cameras will now become an integral part of police stations in Mangaluru. City Police, R Hithendra, police commissioner on Sunday said that CCTV cameras will be installed in a phased manner, which will monitor the work of police officials.

Chairing a monthly SC/ST meeting organized by city police on Sunday, he said, there are complaints that the police demand fees from the complainants to register or work on a case. It’s to stop such practices, he said.
Responding to a question raised by Girish Kumar, DSS leader, who said that those who approach the cops, do not get justice, Hithendra asked Girish to give a written complaint against such elements.
The top cop said that the police department is already working on installing CCTVs in police stations. According to Girish, members of the Dalit community are not being invited for peace committee meetings held at the police station level.
