Captivating performances by folk artistes at Janapada Kala Vaibhava

Udupi:Folk artistes from across the nation  are  presenting captivating performances at the  Rajangana of the Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt as part of the Rashtriya Janapada Kala Vaibhava, a five-day national festival of folk arts which began here on September 25. The event  jointly   organised by Sri Krishna Mutt and Paryaya Sri Sode Vadiraja Mutt was inaugurated by Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt.

Sri Vidyasagara Theertha  Swamiji of Krishnapura Mutt, Sri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Sode Vadiraja Mutt and  Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji of Palimar Mutt were present.

A colourful procession  marked by traditional splendor was taken out from Jodukatte to Rajangana prior to the inaugural.

The event kickstarted with a folk dance from Karnataka named ‘Pooja Kunita’  followed by ‘Bihu’ dance from Assam, Manipuri classical dance from Manipur, ‘Sidhigoma’ a tribal dance from Gujarat, ‘Bedary’ from Madhya Pradesh, and ‘Koli’ dance from Maharashtra.  A women’s team from the state also presented ‘Karnataka Dollu Kunita.’

The event will  conclude on September 29 and will delight art lovers with great performances from artistes from various states.
