Cancer survivor takes up mission to spread hope in fighting cancer

Mangaluru: Cancer is one disease which kills the hopes of the patients as most die convincing themselves that there is chances of survival. But here is a youth hailing from Madhya Pradesh who is on a mission on wheels to create awareness among general public about the draconian disease. He is of the opinion that if treatment is taken on time, any disease can be cured and cancer is no exception.
Meet 26-year-old Harteij Bharatesh from Madhya Pradesh who has won the battle against cancer was in Mangaluru recently. In 2013, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma – a type of cancer which originates from white blood cells called lymphocytes while he was pursuing law in Noida. After graduation he came to Bengaluru for higher studies and learnt that cancer was at its final stage. Still he didnot lose hope and underwent Chemotherapy at Hyderabad Indo American hospital for every 15 days in 6 months.

After Chemotherapy, Harthesh returned to Raipur and involved himself in Yoga, exercising and cycling and started leading a healthy life.

Then he decided that he must create awareness among the public and share his own encounter with cancer and how he got cured. In last May 1, he started ‘Ride of Hope’ from Chattisgarh in his Kawasaki Ninja 300, and he has a plan to visit all the main cities of the 29 states in the country.

He visits old age homes, schools, cancer hospitals and interacts with the patients narrating about his own encounter with cancer and boosts confidence among them, telling them how one can overcome the disease. In his journey he has already met 2,000 cancer-affected patients.

Bharatesh joins hands with bikers’ clubs in each city he visits. He has already finished his visit to 8 states and two Union territories and in the coming 5 months he aims to cover 30,000kms.
