Mangalore : A man who is accused of killing his business partner 13 years ago was arrested by the DCIB recently.




The accused, has been identified as Kodymbady Vishwanath Shetty(47) . He had murdered Sootrabettu Vishwanatha Rai.
Dr Sharanappa, SP addressed press persons here on August 11 and said that owner of Shiva Finance, Vishwanth Rai alias Baddi Vishwa was killed by Vishwanath Shetty alias Panchami alias Raju who was working as his firm’s manager after some financial dispute in Uppinangady.
Vishwanath Rai started a finance business in 1999, and later in 2001, specifically on June 7, Rai met Shetty in his house which is located in Uppinangady. Rai had two houses one in Harinagar in Hirebandady village where his wife and daughter stayed and another house at Gandhi park, which was used mainly for business purposes.
The day the duo met, they had arguments relating to their business interests and Shetty murdered Rai with a weapon and later carried his body in his Maruti Zen and threw it in a drain at Honnavar. The accused had kept his car near Kadri park in Mangalore next day that is on June 8 and disappeared with a cash of one lakh.
During investigation under Puttur rural circle inspector N B Kamal, the police had come to the conclusion that both have been murdered. However in a twist to the case, Subhas Gowda who was also working in Rai’s firm and who had seen both of them fighting gave the information about what had happened to an advocate. Shetty had threatened him earlier. The police concluded that Shetty may have gone abroad or killed himself or both have been murdered.
However, Shetty had gone to chennai and got job as a driver in hospital. Later he worked as an estate manager owned by a doctor in Kadambur. Shetty changed his name as Raju and was popularly known as ‘Raju Thambi ‘ started his own business of Chit Fund and also Raj Finance.
Police arrested him near a bus station in Kadambur.
SP, police inspector of DCIB, Pavitra Tej P R, Puttur rural police circle inspector, B Suresh Kumar,carried out the operation. SP urged that the team who conducted this operation must be given appreciation letters along with monetary rewards.
