Bus drivers of Mangaluru Mumbai private bus services on strike

Mangaluru: Operations of around five private bus operators operating on the  Mangaluru Mumbai route came to a halt, on Friday January 2, after a fight took place between bus federation members and the drivers.

It is learnt that recently, the driver of Anand travels Non AC bus was stopped and a check carried out by a company representative.

During the check, extra passengers were found‎ in the bus. The driver and the company representative had an argument which led to a fight.

The driver also states that all the bus federation members (owners of all bus companies) were present at the spot and they did not interrupt the fight, but hired local goondas to take matters further.

The Bus drivers of most private bus operators have now gone on strike.  Only VRL and KSRTC services are available.

Drivers of Anand Travels, Vishal Travels, Sheetal travels, Canara Travels and Canara Pinto Travels are reported to be on strike.
