Bantwal: In a bus-bike collision at Mani junction in Vittla, here on Sept. 10, a couple was seriously injured but their 3 year old daughter miraculously escaped with minor injuries.

The injured are Yogesh Bhandary(40), his wife Pavithra Bahandary(35) residents of Boliyar in Bantwal taluk. Thier daughter Prapthi(3) escaped with minor injuries. The injured have been admitted in a private hospital in Mangalore.

The incident took place when a private bus heading from Mangalore to Puttur rammed into a bike  coming in the opposite direction from Uppinangady.

In the mishap Pavithra suffered head injuries and her husband sustained a serious chest injury.

Vittal police have visited the spot.

Mani junction is a central place connecting the Mangalore, Bangalore and Puttur national highways. The Public had complained of a series of accidents happening at this junction and demanded that the concerned authorities establish a traffic roundabout to avoid accidents. However, none of the concerned departments took action in this regard.
