‘Bunta Siri Kala Vaibhava’ cultural fest invite unveiled

Mangaluru: The launch of the International Bunts’ Welfare Trust and ‘Bunta Siri Kala Vaibhava’ cultural fest will be held at the TMA Pai International Convention Centre in the city on February 7. The invite for the events  was released at a press meet on February 4.

The trust aims to bring together Bunts of all walks of life through community-friendly programmes and projects. The Trust has decided to observe its formal birth by way of ‘Bunta Siri Kala Vaibhava 2015’ a cultural programme loaded with competitions, fun, entertainment that will give one, more than a fair glimpse into the ‘Bunt’ way of life.

 

On February 7, the District minister-in-charge B Ramanath Rai, who is the honorary president of the trust and will be present for the event, announced – trust president A Sadananda Shetty .

A Sadananda Shetty, chairman of the trust, who released the invitation for  the event on Wednesday said N Vinay Hegde, chancellor of Nitte University will inaugurate the Trust. Writer Erya Lakshmi Narayana Alva will launch the web portal. Tributes will be paid to ‘Nadoja’ Kayyara Kinhana Rai, writer who turned 100 recently. Bunt style of dressing, contest to judge the Miss Bunt, and Mr Bunt, yakshagana, and a musical evening by Gurukiran and troupe too are lined up.

The daylong event would give an opportunity for people to savour the ‘Tammanada Vanas’ or the traditional Tuluva cuisine right from breakfast to dinner. Given the tight schedule for the day, the organisers said every programme will be held as per schedule and no leeway will be given to the guests. “It is a celebration of the Tulu way of life,” noted Vasanth Kumar Shetty, a functionary of the Trust, adding that the Trust will take care to ensure that its various stated objectives are met in course of time.

Other welfare schemes for the community by the trust included scholarship schemes, creating employment opportunities, setting up educational institutions, adoption of needy persons in rural areas, finance institutions for assistance to the poor, support to agriculture and stress on encouragement of younger generation in the political field are some of the major objectives of the trust, he said.

He made it clear that this was not a parallel organization to any others but one being established by like-minded individuals in the interest of the overall welfare of the community.

Former minister Amaranath Shetty Kodman, trust directors Mithun Rai, Devicharan Shetty, Ramachandra Shetty, K Ravindra Shetty, Shashidhar Shetty, Vasant Kumar Shetty and others were present on the occasion.
