Mangalore:It was a wrong call that led to all panic and confusion at the Mangalore campus of Infosys on September 26, Thursday.
If the entire campus was evacuated and a thorough search was launched at the campus on Thursday by the canine squad and bomb disposal squad, nothing was found. Actually, a staffer at Infosys had received the call made by a female stating a bomb was planted.
When the number was tracked down, it was that of Kotiprasad Alva’s house at Kodialbail. When cops went deeper into the issue, what they learnt was this. A maid at the house of Alva, taking advantage of the absence of the owner at the house, had tried to telephone a number in Mumbai. But she pressed the wrong number which was that of Infosys Mangalore campus. She began to ask ‘Bombay Bombay’ to the person on the other end of the phone. A Keralite staff who could not follow her language thought she was saying “Bomb Hai Bomb Hai” leading to all the confusion that ended with a touch of comedy.
