Kasargod, Mar 28: The body of a youth was found buried under sand at Kumble on Thursday, March 27 evening. It is suspected that he was murdered and then buried in a heap of sand.

The deceased is Shafique (26), son of BA Mohammad, former panchayat member of Kumble. The body was found a little distance away from his house, at an under construction site.

Shafique who had left home on Wednesday, March 26 night was missing since then. A house was under construction under a panchayat scheme about 800 meters away from Shafique’s house. At first only the head portion could be seen and police were immediately informed and the body retrieved.

SP Thomson Jose, DySP TP Ranjith and other police personnel rushed to the spot and the body was taken to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital. Finger print experts and dog squad too has been pressed into service.

Shafique who was working in the Gulf had returned hometown a year ago. He had then taken up a job in Mumbai and was back in Kumble, a few days ago.
