Mangaluru: Congress mounted a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has failed to deliver on the promises that the party had made during the 2014 general elections.
Speaking at a press meet, Senior AICC leader and media in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala, on May 5 claimed that ‘backstabbing’ Karnataka is the only mission of the BJP.
Criticizing the PM Modi, Randeep Singh said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi says that our election promises are meaningless. The tragedy is that the Prime Minister’s words lack gravitas. For them election promises are mere use and throw Jumla-Pops.”
Stating that the people will soon bid farewell to Modi, Randeep Singh said, “During the 2014 general elections people chanted ‘Har Har Modi, Ghar Ghar Modi’, I think the trend now would be ‘Bye Bye Modi’ in both the upcoming Karnataka election and the general election in 2019.”
Re-branding the BJP as the “Backstabbing Janatha Party”, Randeep stated that backstabbing Karnataka is BJP’s mission. In five years of Congress’ rule, Karnataka has seen conspiratorial discrimination from the Center in allocation of developmental funds. Cooperative federalism of Narendra Modi has become Co-ercive federalism.”
“The step-motherly treatment and snatching the rights due to Karnataka, has become the DNA of the BJP in the last four years of the Modi government. The BJP had looted and plundered the state’s precious resources through the Rs 35,000 crore ‘Iron Ore-Mining Scam’. The CBI, which is Modi’s puppet is seeking to close six out of nine cases,” he alleged.
After being voted out in 2013, they are attempting to seize the right of Kannadigas by denying them the Rs 22,497 crores in the 15th Finance Commission. Not to be outdone, the ‘Yeddy-Reddy Gang’ of ‘Karnataka’s most wanted’ is making a surreptitious attempt to usurp power in these elections,” Randeep added.
He also alleged that the inherent partisan practice of the Modi government in denying Karnataka its share in Infrastructure- failing India and deliberatly delaying Karnataka’s infrastructure projects. The new project announcements made by Indian companies touched a 13-year low of Rs 77,000 crore up till December 2017.
“Is it correct that 46 of theses Central government projects in Karnataka with original cost of Rs 78,727 crore, are suffering incessant delays and overruns? The cost of these projects has increased to Rs 96,951 crore. Is it not true that out of these 46 projects, 22 projects have shown a cost increase of 112% and are languishing for the past 4 years. Is the Modi government deliberately delaying the Central government Infrastructure projects in Karnataka? Is the step-motherly treatment being meted out of partisan political interests?
The small and marginal farmers of Karnataka were reeling under drought, their cry for help to the Modi government fell on deaf years. The BJP led Central government has failed to provide aid for urban development and has neglected the education and healthcare of Kannadigas. It has also betrayed the Dalits and Aadivasis of Karnataka. The Modi government has failed to include the Swadesh Darshana Yojana of the tourism ministry and stalled railway projects and utterly neglected the ongoing railway projects in Karnataka.
