Mangalore: After the infuriating comment made by BJP leader Dr Subramanian Swamy stating that AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi indulges in cocaine, the Congress party workers including MLA JR Lobo protested outside the Circuit House on December 17, Tuesday night.

The  Bharathiya Janatha Party (BJP) leader and economist Subramanian Swamy was here in the city to address a lecture on ‘Current political situation and relevance of Modi’s leadership’ when he mocked the AICC Vice president after a woman questioned him on Rahul Gandhi.

In a live telecast lecture, Swamy said sarcastically, “The good quality of Rahul Gandhi is that he is an idiot and has no knowledge of politics and is into cocaine.”

Swamy, who was staying at Circuit House in the night,  had to face protest by Congressmen for his comments. Youth Congress President Mithun Rai was also among the protestors.

 On gathering information about the protest, even  BJP members  came to the spot and soon a minor clash broke out between the Congress and the BJP members.

Things  came under control after the police arrived at the spot. Cases have been registered by both the parties. The Congress has lodged a complaint at Kadri police station against the derogatory comments of Subrahmanian Swamy.
