BJP has contributed significantly to fishermen community: Ramachander Baikampady

Mangalore : Ramachander Baikampady, President of the State Fisheries Development Corporation has  said that the fishing industry in the coastal belt experienced a golden era only during the Yeddyurappa led BJP government of the past.

Addressing press persons at the BJP Election Office in the city on Friday April 11, he exuded confidence that the fishermen community would support the BJP this time. He said that during the BJP tenure, it helped as many as 13,600 fisherwomen to be free from debt by offering loans through Vijaya Bank and Corporation Bank at 3 per cent interest.

The erstwhile BJP government had also won the confidence of fishermen by undertaking dredging in the ports in the coastal belt, RamachanderBaikampady claimed.

He further said the BJP has already assured the fishermen community that the proposed PCPIR Project would not be implemented.

Meera Karkera Bengre, Shobhendra Sasihitlu, Babu Bangera Ullal and others were present.
