Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada Bharatiya Janata Party workers condemned the recent untoward developments in the city and attack on Udupi district Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis.

Addressing a press meet here on April 6, BJP District President Sanjeeva Matandoor said, ” The state government is responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation in undivided Dakshina Kannada. The system has completely collapsed. Karnataka government is encouraging communal organisations like PFI and KFD by withdrawing 1400 cases filed on them during 2015. This move has instigated these organisations to create disturbance in the area by resorting to violence like pelting stones to police commissioner’s office, assaulting police personnel and other heinous crimes. This because of the support by district in-charge minister and other Congress leaders. People of the district are living in constant fear.”

He also said “When the PFI was found responsible for many such activities, the BJP had demanded a ban but no action has been taken by the state government.” Matandoor demanded a ban on such organisations.

Condemning the sand mining mafia, Matandoor alleged, “In the undivided district Congress representatives are involved in the sand mining lobby after obtaining the permit.

He threatened to hold severe protests in the coming days if the demands were not met.

Former MLA Yogish Bhat, Vedhavyas Kamath, Kishore Rai and others were present.
