Mangalore : Bishop of Mangalore Diocese Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza distributed cheques as part of the EDUCARE Loan Disbursement Scheme from the EDUCARE Fund, at a function held at the CODP-ISD Hall on August 26, Monday. The Fund has been instituted through the CODP by an anonymous NRI entrepreneur from UAE.
Speaking on the occasion, the Bishop described the anonymous NRI entrepreneur who has contributed to the noble cause as a Messenger from God and urged the beneficiary students to make the best use of the loans provided to them.
CODP Director Fr Oswald Monteiro who also spoke said a total of 637 applications had been received this year of which 575 students have been selected as beneficiaries. He also informed that a sum of Rs 1,80,15,550 has been distributed as interest free loans to the students who will have to repay the same after completing their studies.
Fr Valerian D’Souza, Fr Onil D’Souza, former director of CODP, Joseph Quadras,General Manager of MCC Bank and Michael D’Souza, Branch Manager of MCC Bank were among others present.
