Bike rider arrested in Andrea Patrao case

Mangalore: An arrest has been made in the Urwastore accident case on Friday August 1, after the death of 17-year-old Andrea Patrao, who died in the accident on Wednesday July 30.

The police have arrested 18-year-old Akash Shetty, who was riding the bike along Andrea pillion.
   
Apparently, in the past as well Akash have had instance of driving without license. In August 2010, he had driven a Scorpio without his parents’ knowledge, and killed two workers who were waiting at a bus stop at Panambur.
After the Panambur accident, Akash’s parents reportedly sent him to Bangalore. He came back to Mangalore recently.

It may be recalled that the accident happened at Urwastore when Andrea along with Akash was riding pillion towards Kulur. She fell out of the bike, when Akash applied sudden brakes trying to avoid collision with an oncoming bike.
According to the police, as she fell a cement mixer lorry ran over her, although Akash immediately took her to the hospital, she was pronounced dead.

The police took him for questioning and later arrested him.
