Mangalore : District BJP President Pratapsimha Nayak has said that the Bharatha Gellisi Convention held at Nehru Maidan in the city on February 18 was a historic event in the district.

Speaking at a press meet at the District BJP office in the city on February 19, Wednesday he said a sea of humanity from across the district participated in the event voluntarily and contributed to the success of the programme addressed by BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. He said the BJP is indebted to all those who worked for the success of the programme.
He said the BJP had prepared well in advance for the event through Ratha Yathra, Padayatra, tea distribution and public meetings. He further thanked all the participants for being disciplined.
To a question on Netravathi diversion project, he said former chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda had said the project should be formulated after gathering public opinion. But he has not told anywhere that the project would be implemented all of a sudden. But the Congress leaders who are representing the district in the Union and State Governments despite being aware of the importance of River Netravathi are going ahead with the project without gathering public opinion.
Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP. BJP Spokesperson Satish Prabhu, Devadas Shetty, Diwaker Samani. and Sanjay Prabhu were also present.
