Mangalore: The Bharat Kranti Sena, an outfit led by Pranavananda Swami held a demonstration against Malabar Gold Jewellery store on Friday May 2.




The activists protested by alleging that the store was using youth from the Hindu community to smuggle gold from foreign countries. Pranavananda Swami was not present during the protest.
Before the protest began, the police asked the Sena to withdraw the protest. But as the activists continued their protest, five of them were arrested by the police later on.
The arrested were identified as Rajesh Poojary, national Vice-President of the Sena, Lohith Kumar L, its state President, Udaya Shankar, Chief Secretary, Naveen and Hemanth Kumar.
As customers at the jewellery store were more than the usual number on account of Akshaya Tritiya, high police security was already deployed at the spot.A police van has been posted at the spot for security all through the day.
