Beary literary icon Abdul Raheem TK no more

Mangaluru: Renowned businessman, Beary writer Abdul Raheem TK (65) died after a brief period of illness at his Mangaluru residence.

He is survived by his wife and two sons.

Managing Director of Teekay’s Concepts, he was a writer and a poet by passion. He was the founding president of Beary Sahithya Parishath and had dedicated himself for the cause of the Beary language.

He was the convener of the first Beary Sahithya Sammelana held at Town Hall in Mangaluru in 1998. He has to his credit holding second Beary Sahithya Sammelana in 1999 in Bantwal and the third Sammelana held in 2001 in Udupi.

He has translated several Hindi and English literature into Beary language. His first compilation of Beary poems-Mallige Balli became an invaluable gift to the world of Beary literature. He also translated Paulo Coelho’s celebrated book ‘The Alchemist’ into Kannada under the title ‘Rasavadi’.

He was born in Jokatte but grew up in Bajpe. His father was Kademane Bava Abdul Khader and Kunhirakan Salma Abdul.
