Basadi theft: Two accused brought to Mangalore

Mangalore : The police arrested two accused in connection to the Moodbidri basadi theft case were brought to Mangalore on Wednesday July 17.

Diptimayee Mohanty, wife of Santosh Das,and Digambar Mohanty, his father-in-law were arrested by the police and brought to city.

They are in judicial custody till July 30.The two were arrested for denying to disclose the whereabouts of Santhosh.

When police raided in Bhubaneswar,they had found 1 kg of gold at Santoshs house. The police had also recovered idols stolen from the Basadi.

At least 15 idols made of gold and encrusted with pearls, precious stones and diamonds were stolen on July 5th from Siddantha Mandir of Guru Basadi in Moodabidri, also known as “Jain Kashi”.
