Bantwal : Youth drowns in Netravathi

Bantwal:A youth reportedly drowned while another  friend who had accompanied the latter for a swim in the Netravathi river at Manjalpade in Sajipamunnur village,  swam ashore to safety on September 8, Sunday.

The missing youth is identified as Praveen Kulal (22). His body  has not yet been traced even after expert divers made a thorough search  on Sunday.

Praveen Kulal hailed from Kadeshvalya while Kamalaksha who was lucky to survive was from Kalladka. The two along with three other friends had been to  attend a wedding  in Manjalpade and the  mishap took pace when the youth decided to go for a swim  after the marriage  part left. Praveen Kulal worked as a welder in Mangalore and was the friend of the groom. It is learnt Kamalaksha had tried to rescue Praveen but in vain.

Incidentally, for children had died at the same spot in January 2010. Locals even recall four youth had drowned here ten years ago.

Bantwal town police have registered a case.
