Bantwal: The town municipal council during its meeting decided unanimously to serve show cause notice to the garbage contractor citing violation of contract norms.

During the meeting, TMC Member Devdas Shetty alleged about the violation in the terms of contract by the contractor and complained about irregularities like excess amount collection from public and misbehavior with members of the council. In addition few others highlighted the delay in garbage management despite prompt payment to the contractor. Few felt that the CEO should be held accountable for the sorry state of affairs in garbage collection and disposition within the city limits.
Admitting the lapses, the TMC President Ramakrisha Alva and CEO Sudhakar assured the members action against the contractor Yemmekere Salaam and decided to serve a show-cause notice to the contractor seeking reply within 15 days.
Others issues related to poor maintenance of street lights after heavy storms and damages to public and private property was also discussed as many areas are still in darkness in the municipal limits.
Some BJP members opposed the decision to provide Rs two lakhs to a park project. Others issues related to issuing property rights to Ashraya scheme beneficiaries and solid waste management were discussed during the meeting.
