Bantwal : In a queer incident, the Bantwal TMC Chief Officer, a few engineers and some members of the general public had to remain locked up inside the TMC office for nearly half an hour on February 25, Tuesday evening.

It had become a practice to lock up the TMC office at sharp 5.30 in the evening ever since the Congress took over the reins of the TMC. A sign board mentioning this has also been put up in front of the office.
However, on February 25, Tuesday, the TMC Chief Officer Ganesh who was out of the office on some urgent work had returned at around 5.15 pm. Some member of the public too were waiting in the office to meet him. Some engineers and staff too were in the office to consult the Chief Officer over some issue.
But, things all of a sudden took a different turn when Suresh Kulal, a former BJP councillor arrived at the office at around 5.30 pm. The TMC President Vasanthi who fumed at him all of a sudden, left the office after directing one of the staff to lock up the main door of the office. The staff immediately heeded to her directive and left the place.
On gathering information that the TMC Chief officer and a few others were locked up inside, media men rushed to the spot landing the Chief Officer in an embarrassing situation. He immediately summoned the staff concerned and directed him to open the locks. As soon as the locks were removed, the TMC chief officer and staff were seen rushing out by evading the eyes of the media.
Meanwhile, Suresh Kulal has condemned the action of the TMC chief officer and says at least the help desk at the office which accepts grievances pertaining to water and electricity should be kept open till 8.30 pm.
However, Chief Officer Ganesh has refused to comment on the issue.
