Mangalore : In an interesting case, the Bantwal Rural SI Mahesh Prasad appeared before the Second Additional District and Sessions Court here on July 31, Wednesday after the court issued him a warrant in connection with an atrocity case filed by a woman in 2010.
However, the SI had to face embarrassment when the court sentenced him to 14 days of judicial custody for not furnishing any documents or evidences in the case. However, for the good luck of the SI, he was granted bail the same evening after senior officials intervened.
It has been learnt that the SI had failed to appear before court despite several notices and also a show cause notice. Finally, a warrant was issued against him in the case.
