Bantwal : A First Investigation Report (FIR) was registered at Bantwal police against BJP MPs Nalin Kumar Kateel and Shobha Karandlaje, who had participated in the protests by Hindu organizations at Bantwal taluk on Friday, July 7.
On July 4, some miscreants had carried out a deadly assault on an RSS member named Sharat, who succumbed to injuries, on Friday evening. Attempt on Sharath’s life and few other violent incidents had created a tense situation in Bantwal, Kalladka and surrounding areas. In order to maintain law and order, police had imposed prohibitory orders and extended the same with no respite in incidents of violence.
MPs Shobha Karandlaje and Nalin Kumar Kateel were present at the demonstration and march organized by Hindu organizations in Bantwal on Friday morning. The Bantwal police have registered FIR against Shobha Karandlaje and Nalin Kumar Kateel under section 143 and 149 of the IPC as they have been involved in the protest.
IGP instructs to open fire
Meanwhile, IGP (western range) P. Harishekaran has asked his personnel to open fire in case of attack on police force. As many as 13 people have been arrested so far by the police including three people taken into custody last night.
Shobha demands Rai and Khader’s expulsion from state cabinet
At the other end, Shobha has demanded the expulsion of ministers Ramanath Rai and U T Khader, holding them responsible for the violence plaguing the district and inept handling of the situation. She charged them of targeting BJP leaders and filing cases against them for violating prohibiting orders while lifting the ban when congress organized a huge meeting in the presence of Chief Minister and other leaders. She also demanded , all cases of Hindu activist murders be handed over to National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Rebutting her charges, Minister U T Khader said, the congress meeting venue fell within the jurisdiction of city police commissioner, where prohibitory orders were not in force on July 7.
