Mangalore: The City Crime Branch personnel arrested a person on the charges of illegal possession of a pistol. He is said to be an associate of underworld don Bannanje Raja.

The arrested is identified as Sooryakumar alias Soori from Somwarpete. According to the police officials, Sooryakumar has various cases of murder and attempt to murder against him. He was also seen with an unlicensed pistol on a public road at Monkey stand near Mangaladevi Temple recently.

The police at Pandeshwar station and the CCB conducted a joint operation led by CCB Inspector Valentine D’Souza. Soorya was an accused in the  2008 Vasudeva Shenoy murder case.
