Mangaluru: With the water level in Thumbay vented dam reaching 9.1 feet, the restriction on industries on using water from river Netravathi has been lifted by the Deputy Commissioner on May 26.

It may be recalled that when the water level in Thumbay hit all time low over the last few weeks, the district administration prevented some large scale industries functioning in the area from lifting water from river Netravathi, with the aim of supplying adequate drinking water to the people of the district on priority basis.

On Tuesday, the water level in Thumbay increased prompting the district administration to supply water to the parched city of Mangaluru on daily basis.

It is said that the water now available at the vented dam is sufficient to pump adequate water to the city for about 15 days.

With this the water supply to the city has been restored and companies like MRPL, MCF and others have been asked to draw water as usual.
