Mangaluru: MLA J R Lobo on Wednesday announced that the stretch from Balmatta Canara Bank circle to Karavali circle in Bendoorwell will be named as ‘Blasius M D’Souza Road in a formal program on July 16.

Speaking at the District Congress Office on July 13, Lobo thanked Mangaluru City Corporation and said that the naming of the road was delayed due to various issues. The State government took the decision of naming the road after Blasius M D’Souza as he had worked for the society with complete dedication.
“At Townhall, the 125th birth anniversary year of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar will be observed along with south block congress party workers convention. Senior Congress leader Mallikarjuna Kharge will inaugurate the event while District in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai will preside over the function. There will be a host of other dignitaries like MP Oscar Fernandes, M Veerappa Moily, U T Khader, D K Shivkumar Janardhan Poojary, KPCC working president Dinesh Gundurao, Ivan D’souza and others,” he said.
When queried about DySP Ganapathi suicide case Lobo said that no one has any right to take their own lives. Any official working for the public will have pressure from the government.
“If you see DySP Ganapathi’s last interview, he was answering an anchor’s questions. There was a time gap between the interview and his suicide. Jumping to conclusion before investigation is not the right thing to do. The government has handed over the case to CID. The truth will be out after the investigations,” said Lobo.
Interim district Congress president Ibrahim Kodijal who was a part of the press meet said that opposition parties are politicizing the suicide case. The BJP did not speak anything about the DySP Kallappa suicide case, but are now protesting regarding the DySP Ganapthi’s suicide. The double standards expose their political motives. The CID investihation will bring out the truth, he said.
Lauding the Siddaramaiah government for its governance, Kodijal expressed confidence of the government returning to power in the next Assembly elections.
Mayor Harinath and others were present.
