Mangalore : Hundreds of autorickshaw drivers took out a protest march in Mangalore and then staged a protest in front of the DC office on July 12, Friday, opposing the moves to allow rural permit autorickshaws to operate in the city.

Addressing the protestors, Ali Hassan, President of the  minority Autorickshaw Drivers union took strong  exception to the  order issued by Health Minister UT Khader to allow the autoirickshaws of ullal in the city, at the auto-rickshaw drivers meeting held on 6th of july.

He said such a move would hit hard autorickshaw drivers of Mangalore who are already finding it extremely difficult to make two ends meet.

He further said that the city would face more traffic problems if the rural autorickshaws are permitted in the city since there are about 6000 auto rickshaws are already operating in the city.
