Mangaluru: In connection with an assault against a hotelier, Moodbidri police arrested a 26-year-old person on Friday, October October 26.

The arrested has been identified as Guru alias Guruprasad alias Gururaj, son of Sundar, a resident of Mittottu in Suratkal. According to the police sources, Imthiyaz has been running a hotel at Gantalkatte in Karinje village, since from a year. On September 24, a group of people came in a car and ordered 10 tea in Imthiyaz’s hotel. When Imthiyaz went inside the hotel to prepare tea, the group barged into the hotel and attacked upon Imthiyaz with lethal weapons. However, Imthiyaz succeeded to escape from the clutches of the accused. A case was registered at Moodbidri police station in this regard.

Followed by the complaint, Moodbidri police succeeded to arrest Guruprasad, who allegedly involved in the attack against the hotelier Imthiyaz. Police sought the custody of Guruprasad when he was produced before the court on Saturday. Court consented to remand Guruprasad to police custody for 5 days, police sources said.
